Munky's 7-string in Black: The Lo-Pro Edge Tremolo That Unleashes Korn's Rhythmic Chaos
The Ibanez K7YIN is the official signature guitar of James "Munky" Shaffer of Korn, and it's now available for pre-order. Munky is the architect of Korn's rhythmic foundation, and the K7YIN reflects that: an instrument built for precision, aggression, and the dynamic playing style that helped define the nu-metal genre.
The sound is powered by two DiMarzio Blaze pickups, high-output pickups that remain defined and articulate even under extreme conditions. The Nyatoh body provides a warm, full tonal foundation, while the 5-piece Maple/Walnut neck ensures tightness and excellent sustain. The 24 frets on an Ebony fretboard provide a fast, smooth playing experience with a clear attack characteristic of this wood type. With a 25.5" scale length and the familiar K-7 Special inlays, the guitar feels instantly familiar in the hand for any 7-string player.
The distinguishing feature of the K7YIN compared to its sibling is the Lo-Pro Edge7 tremolo with U-bar: Ibanez's professional double-locking tremolo in a low profile, which gives you the expressiveness of a whammy bar without intonation issues. Combined with Gotoh tuners and an electronics layout of volume, tone, and a 3-way switch, this is an instrument that is fully stage-ready. The K7YIN comes in black and is for those who seriously want to approach Munky's tone and playing style.
