The Martin 0-10E Retro Jason Isbell: A Tribute to Honest Guitar Playing and 1940s Tone
The Martin 0-10E Retro Jason Isbell is directly inspired by the 1940 Martin 0-17 that Isbell used for the recording of his solo album Foxes in the Snow. That story resonates in every note: this is a guitar that doesn't try to impress, but simply sounds honest. Warm, focused, and direct.
The all-solid mahogany body, with both top, back, and sides, gives the 0-10E Retro a tone that is immediately recognizable: rich mids, clear highs, and a punchy attack that works particularly well for fingerpicking and singer-songwriter repertoire. The scalloped spruce X-bracing adds clarity and dynamic response, ensuring the guitar responds well even with a softer touch. The Martin E1 electronics make the transition to amplified playing simple, without compromising the acoustic character.
The Performing Artist neck with PA profile and a 24.9" scale length ensures a comfortable and smooth playing feel, even for longer sessions. The East Indian rosewood fretboard has 20 frets with Old Style 17 inlays, fitting the retro character of the guitar. The nickel open gear tuners and dovetail neck joint complete an instrument that combines craftsmanship and nostalgia. Delivered with a gig bag and strung with Martin strings developed in collaboration with Jason Isbell himself.
For the guitarist who values authenticity above all else and is looking for an instrument with its own story.
