The Dingwall D-Roc Standard 5 combines a pronounced rock character with multiscale precision
A striking finish is beautifully incorporated, but this Dingwall D-Roc Standard 5 Aquamarine Metalflake Gloss also has its appeal beneath the paint. The distinctive body shape and glossy metalflake finish give this five-string bass a pronounced stage presence. Behind that lies the recognizable Dingwall concept: different scale lengths for a controlled response across the entire range. The Standard series is built in Asia according to the design of the Canadian models. For bassists looking for a characterful instrument without sacrificing modern playability, this is a particularly interesting combination.
The three FD-3N pickups give you different perspectives on the same groove. With the four-way Quad-Tone pickup selector, you can switch between the pictured pickup combinations, from the bridge pickup to combinations with more width and body. The passive tone control then helps you to match the clarity to your attack and amplifier. This allows you to make room for a round accompanying part or choose more definition in a heavy band mix. The multiscale length from 34 to 37 inches gives the low B extra length in particular, while the higher strings retain their shorter scale length.
The mahogany body is combined with a bolted maple neck and a pau ferro fretboard. That fretboard has a radius of 9.45 inches, mother-of-pearl dot inlays, and 20 narrow banjo-sized frets. Open-gear tuners and a Dingwall Minimalist one-piece bridge complete the hardware. The controls consist of volume, the Quad-Tone selector, and a passive tone knob, clear enough to quickly find your way while playing. This example weighs 4.34 kg and comes with a soft case.
Curious how that long low B and the different pickup positions respond under your fingers? This Aquamarine D-Roc invites you to approach your own amplifier sound from a different angle.
