The Gibson LG-2 was introduced in 1942 as a more compact alternative to the larger J-45 and Southern Jumbo, but quickly stood on its own as one of the most beloved small-body acoustic guitars from the Banner-era. The 50s Original honors the most coveted versions from that decade. The Sitka Spruce top, combined with solid mahogany back and sides, delivers a lively, clearly balanced sound that is surprisingly full and resonant despite its compact size. The traditional scalloped X-bracing gives the top the freedom to resonate optimally, with a dynamic response that can handle both subtle fingerstyle and rhythmic strumming.

The mahogany neck features a Rounded profile with an unbound rosewood fretboard, MOP dot inlays, and 20 frets. The compound dovetail joint with hot hide glue maximizes resonance and transfer. The rectangular rosewood bridge with two MOP dots, a tortoise teardrop pickguard, and Grover tuners with white buttons give the LG-2 50s Original its undeniable vintage character.
