Ibanez GSR185 Jewel Blue – five-string entry-level bass with PJ-pickups and purpleheart fretboard
The Ibanez GSR185 Jewel Blue is a 5-string bass guitar that proves you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a serious instrument. The GSR series has long been known as a reliable choice for beginner bassists, and the GSR185 adds an extra low B-string. This immediately gives you more range and possibilities, without compromising the neck or playability. The Jewel Blue finish also makes it a visual asset.
The GSR185 gets its sound from a combination of a Dynamix P split-coil in the neck and a Dynamix J single-coil in the bridge. The P-pickup gives you that warm, full tone you recognize from classic rock recordings, while the J-pickup adds clarity and definition. With the two separate volume knobs and a tone control, you can easily set your own mix. Passive electronics, so always reliable and no hassle with batteries.
The okoumé body is light and ergonomic, the maple neck with purpleheart fretboard plays smoothly and has a beautiful natural look. With 22 frets, a 34" scale length and a 12" radius, the GSR185 plays smoothly across its entire range. The Ibanez B10 bridge and chrome tuners ensure stable tuning. Fretboard inlays are simple dots — clear and functional.
