Solid sapele in a dreadnought that immediately reveals its character
The Martin D-15E is the electro-acoustic version of the beloved 15 Series, and it immediately showcases what Martin has been known for for decades: honest material use, craftsmanship, and a tone that needs no embellishment. Solid sapele for the top, back, and sides gives this instrument a unique voice you won't soon forget.
Sapele has a character that falls somewhere between mahogany and rosewood: warm and full in the lows, with a clear, present midrange and a slight shimmer in the highs. The dreadnought body provides volume and projection, and the non-scalloped bracing gives the tone a direct, punchy response that works well for both strumming and fingerpicking. The built-in Martin E-1 electronics make it stage-ready without the need for additional equipment.
The neck is crafted from select hardwood with a PA profile and features a Katalox fingerboard with faux abalone inlays. The Ping nickel open-gear tuners with black buttons give the instrument a subtle retro touch. Scale length 25.4", 20 frets, satin natural finish. Supplied with a softshell case.
For the guitarist seeking a reliable, characterful dreadnought with Martin's quality guarantee and the flexibility of built-in electronics.
